The most common by far: $84-$168/year annual Premium charge. If that's what you're seeing, see the section below.
$7 - $14 / month — Premium monthly (sliding scale)
If your charge is in the $7-$14/month range, you're on Rocket Money Premium monthly. Rocket Money offers a sliding price (you pick what you pay, with $7/month minimum and $14/month maximum):
- $7, $9, $10, $12, $14 are all common monthly prices users have selected on the sliding scale.
- Charge appears once per month, on the same day you originally subscribed.
- All Premium features active during the billing period.
If you no longer want it, see How to Cancel Rocket Money Premium.
$48 / year — Premium annual
The most common Rocket Money charge. $84-$168/year (sliding scale across the year). This is Rocket Money Premium's annual plan.
Common scenarios: - You signed up for the 7-day free trial and forgot to cancel — auto-converts to $48 annual. - You explicitly chose annual at signup (saves vs monthly). - You renewed for a second year — annual auto-renews on the anniversary.
If you don't recognize this charge but find a Rocket Money account exists in your name, you signed up at some point — possibly via an in-app prompt during another action.
$50 / $96 / $109 — Premium tier variants
- $50/year — older pricing tier, some users grandfathered in.
- $96/year — different Premium tier or sale-locked rate.
- $108/year — older or higher-tier pricing.
- $109/year — promotional or cycled pricing.
These are all Rocket Money Premium at different price points. Rocket Money has shifted pricing several times over the years; your renewal stays at whatever rate you locked in.
Variable bill negotiation fee (40% of savings)
If you used Rocket Money's bill negotiation service, you'll see a separate charge for their fee:
- Fee = your selected percentage (35-60%) of first-year savings they secured for you.
- Charged in 1 or 2 monthly installments after the savings are confirmed.
- One-time per negotiation (not recurring).
Example: if Rocket Money saved you $300/year on your phone bill, the fee = $120, charged once or twice.
If you're seeing this charge and not sure: open Rocket Money → Profile → Bill Negotiations to see your history. Each successful negotiation lists the fee.
For broader context, see How Rocket Money Negotiates Your Bills.
Why am I being charged twice
Common causes of seemingly-duplicate charges:
- Premium + Bill negotiation in the same month — these are separate. $48 + $144 (or whatever the negotiation fee is) = two distinct charges.
- Pre-authorization holds — your bank places a temporary hold that drops off in 3-5 days. Looks like a duplicate but only one settles.
- Genuine double-billing — rare but happens. If two identical charges hit on the same day, that's a glitch — contact support for refund.
- Charging the same card across two accounts — if someone in your household has a separate Rocket Money account on the same card.
Check Rocket Money → Profile → Subscription History → list of charges. Cross-reference with your statement. If counts don't match, contact support.
I cancelled but Rocket Money still charged me
This can happen if:
- Cancellation didn't propagate — confirm via in-app status that subscription shows "Cancelled."
- You cancelled via the Rocket Money app but signed up via App Store / Google Play — the subscription is on Apple/Google's side; cancel there.
- Cancellation was after the renewal cutoff — if you cancelled the same day the bill cycle ended, the bill may have already processed.
- Different account — you might have multiple Rocket Money accounts (family members, old email, etc.).
Steps: 1. Open the Rocket Money app → Profile → Premium status. 2. Verify it says "Cancelled" or "Free." 3. Check email for cancellation confirmation. 4. If status shows cancelled but you were charged, contact support@rocketmoney.com with the cancellation confirmation email + the charge. 5. Refund typically processed within 1-2 weeks.
I never signed up but Rocket Money is charging me
If you genuinely don't have a Rocket Money account but see charges:
- Check your email for any Rocket Money signup confirmation. Search "rocket money" or "rocketmoney.com" — sometimes signup happened a long time ago and you forgot.
- Check if anyone in your household signed up with your card. Spouse, family member, etc.
- Could be fraud — someone signed up with your card without your authorization. Treat as fraud:
- File a chargeback with your bank.
- Email support@rocketmoney.com with the charge details.
- Update your card to prevent future charges.
Rocket Money typically responds to "I never signed up" cases by providing the email associated with the account. If you don't recognize that email, it's likely fraud.

How to get a refund
Rocket Money's refund policy is reasonable but not automatic:
- Recent charge (within 7 days), unused: Email support@rocketmoney.com requesting a refund. Usually granted.
- Charge older than 7 days, unused: Refund possible but less likely. Try anyway.
- Charge for actively used period: Generally not refundable — you got the value.
- Bill negotiation fee: Refundable if the negotiated savings didn't actually materialize. Less negotiable if it did.
- Fraud: File chargeback with bank.
Where to email: support@rocketmoney.com. Include: - Your account email. - Last 4 digits of the card charged. - Charge date and amount. - Reason for refund request.
Response time: 1-3 business days for first reply, 1-2 weeks for actual refund processing.
How to stop future charges
To prevent further Rocket Money charges:
- Cancel Premium in the app: Profile → Premium → Cancel.
- Cancel via App Store / Google Play if you originally signed up there (both paths must be cancelled).
- Verify cancellation status: Premium status should show "Free" or "Cancelled."
- Save the cancellation email as proof.
- Bonus precaution: Update your card or use a virtual card for online services so the next renewal won't go through even if the cancellation didn't propagate.

FAQ
Why is Rocket Money charging me $9.99?
That's their old monthly Premium rate. They've since shifted to a sliding-scale pricing model. Your $9.99/month grandfathered rate continues unless you change plans.
What's the difference between Rocket Money's charges and the subscription charges Rocket Money helps me track?
Rocket Money charges = fees Rocket Money charges YOU for their service. Tracked subscriptions = fees OTHER companies (Netflix, Spotify, gym, etc.) charge you, which Rocket Money helps you see.
Will Rocket Money refund a charge if I just changed my mind?
Within 7 days of charge, usually yes if you haven't used the service. After that, less likely.
Can I get a refund for the bill negotiation fee?
Only if the negotiated savings didn't actually materialize. If they did, the fee is earned.
Why does Rocket Money charge through Apple/Google instead of directly?
If you signed up via the iOS or Android app store, they process the billing. The fee is the same; it's just routed through Apple/Google.
Will Rocket Money charge me automatically when my plan renews?
Yes. All Premium plans auto-renew unless you cancel.
Can I freeze my account instead of cancelling?
Rocket Money doesn't have a formal "pause" option. Cancel and re-subscribe later, or just keep the Free tier active.
Does Rocket Money charge for the Free tier?
No. The Free tier is genuinely free — no charges to use the basic features (subscription detection, transaction tracking, basic budgeting).
Will my charge appear immediately or take a few days?
Most Premium charges process within 1-2 business days. Some Apple/Google processed charges show as "pending" for 3-5 days before settling.
Can I dispute a Rocket Money charge with my bank?
You can, but Rocket Money support is usually faster and doesn't risk flagging your account.
